Essex and Wales collide when Gavin and Stacey fall in love, bringing their friends, family and luggage with them.. With the exception of scenes shot on location in London in the first episode, the entire series was filmed in Wales, including scenes set in Wales. Essex. The house which was used as the Shipmans' The house (Gavin’s family) is situated in Dinas Powys, a village 1 mile north-west of Barry, where the Wests (Stacey’s family) live. In series 3, both Bryn and Gavin. the cars have completely different registration numbers than the previous series. Gavin’s blue Saxo changed from a T-reg (MY 1999) to an X-reg (MY 2000). Bryn’s green Picasso changed from CV02 (MY 2002, registered in Cardiff) to HV54 (MY 2004, registered in Portsmouth). They are obviously different cars.. Featured in Gavin & Stacey: Outtakes (2007). RunBy Stephen FretwellInterpreted by Stephen Fretwell. This was a lovely, short, minimal engagement that took me two or three days to get through quickly. It’s nothing amazing and doesn’t move mountains or shift paradigms. Rather, it’s a character study of two (extended) families coming together – one from Wales and the other from England – after a couple hook up and marry. It’s a light, fun and friendly watch. I wish there were more shows like this where each of the characters has a kind, loving, common heart and thinks about and expresses love for those in their lives despite their flaws. It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s not invented either. It’s an honest slice of life and it’s wonderful. It’s not the laugh-a-minute slapstick comedy that British comedies often are. Rather, this is character driven. Highly recommended.
